Individualized Treatment, Not A One-Size-Fits-All Program

Counseling begins with a comprehensive evaluation. From there, you and your clinician work together to understand what is happening, identify treatment goals, and create a plan that fits your life.

For some clients, the goal may be abstinence. For others, the first step may be reducing risk, improving safety, understanding patterns, or deciding what kind of change feels realistic.

Lighthouse specializes in co-occurring care for people who are navigating both substance use and mental health concerns.

Behavioral Addictions

Addiction isn't limited to drugs or alcohol. Certain behaviors, such as gambling, compulsive spending, or excessive gaming, can become difficult to control and begin to negatively impact your relationships, finances, work, or overall well-being.

At Lighthouse Counseling, our clinicians help clients better understand the patterns driving these behaviors and develop healthier coping strategies. Through personalized, evidence-based counseling, we work with you to reduce the impact of behavioral addictions and build lasting, positive change.

How We Help

Our clinicians use evidence-based treatment approaches that may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing and motivational enhancement
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Harm reduction
  • 12-step facilitation when appropriate
  • Individual and group counseling

Treatment may focus on substance use, emotional regulation, relationships, trauma, behavioral addictions, relapse prevention, or the mental health concerns that make change harder.

Harm Reduction Support

Harm reduction focuses on reducing the risks connected to substance use. It does not require every person to be in the same place or have the same goal.

This may include support around safer choices, overdose prevention, decision-making, medication-assisted treatment conversations, or building a plan for reducing or stopping use.

As part of our local harm reduction work, Lighthouse offers free Narcan, fentanyl test kits, xylazine test kits, and medication disposal kits through our office.

Mandated And Referred Treatment

Some clients come to Lighthouse because treatment has been required by a court, probation, DSS, an employer, ASAP, or another referral source.

We understand that mandated treatment can feel stressful. Our team has experience helping clients meet requirements while still treating them with dignity and respect. We also understand the documentation and coordination that referral sources may require.
